Some people avoid conflict and some are drawn to it as a moth to the flame. This adventure is about those who risk that flame and must live with the lasting scars. These are the few that, when exposed to the edgy intrigue of danger, become more than the sum of their parts. This tale follows the formation of the Serenity team into what lies beyond — shaping them, as a blast-furnace melds iron into steel to becoming one of the most sought-after teams in the world. At times, they are fully-dedicated to both corporate and personal clients’ security interests, but when beckoned by various governmental agencies, they slip seamlessly into the world of Black Ops. Lucrative, yes. But, in one form or another, there is always a price to be levied. Are the spoils worth the cost? You be the judge.

He adjusted the M107’s scope to the position he had noted seconds before and made ready to fire when the Jeep and its weapon reappeared. He suddenly said, “Hell with this,” sighting back to the right at the building, as he began pulling the trigger, firing repeated rounds into and through the building, guessing at the position of the Jeep concealed behind it. When he had fired his sixth round, there was a secondary explosion and the entire corner of the building collapsed in upon itself, the Jeep and its occupants had been transformed into a mangled pile of rubble.
