Beginning in 2005, Ron and I began to have an interest in my father’s service during World War II aboard a Brooklyn-class light cruiser christened the U.S.S. Boise. Unfortunately, my father passed away earlier in 2005, so incorporating his recollections for a story would not be possible. Instead, we set out to jointly research this ship and its movements, particularly as they related to an epic battle that took place in the South Pacific — the Battle of Cape Esperance. It took us 6 years to complete that journey and we co-authored and published Esperance in 2011 and an abridged version was published in 2023.

It’s important to note that Esperance is a work of historical fiction — meaning that we meticulously stayed true to the ship’s movements and the events that occurred aboard, but the characters in our story (except for one) are entirely fictional.

In the successive years, I continued the story of the Boise’s Captain, Nick McCullough, throughout the years after the War as he entered private life again through my novels of Zurich, Zurich Legacy, and Shamar.

Ron went on to research and author Serenity: Full Circle, a novel of fiction that is set in the present day.

We hope you enjoy them!

As we are both self-published authors, reviews are our lifeblood. Please help us reach more readers by leaving a review after reading one of our novels. Amazon makes this process pretty easy and we would encourage and appreciate your support.

If you have any comments, please feel free to leave them on this site — or if you prefer a less public venue, you can contact us at brooksnovels@gmail.com. We love to hear from our readers!

We would also like to give a big shout-out to Bill Vancil who helped us design our new logo and to Vlad Gorbich who helped us migrate our files to our new website of bbnovels.com!

From both of us, thank you for your interest in our stories and for taking the time to visit our site!
